Joann T. (Grassano) Takacs, 81, of Toronto, OH, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Joann was born Feb. 17, 1935 in Toronto, daughter of the late Nick and Rose (Bonifine) Grassano.

She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto, the CWC, the Senior Swimmers Club at the Toronto Pool. Joann was a graduate of Catholic Central High School.

She was a loving, caring and wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Joann enjoyed her Sunday gatherings with her family where she would cook and bake for everyone.

She will be missed by all who knew her for her kind nature and compassion for everyone she knew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Sr. (1994), her sister Patricia Martaus and her infant sister Dominica Grassano.

Joann leaves behind her three children, her sons William Jr. BJ (Marybeth) Takacs, John Takacs and her daughter, Jeanette (Paul) Nemitt all of Toronto; her grandchildren, Natalie (Kregg) Mousourakis, Stephanie (Ron) Ayers, Joey Takacs, Monica (Tomasso) Valerio, JJ Miclea, Karly, Derek and Chase Takacs; her two great-granddaughters, Madalyn Ayers and Stella Mousourakis; her niece Teresa Martaus of Pittsburgh, PA and her grand-dogs.

Family and friends are invited for visitation held on Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 5-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday morning at 10 am at the funeral home with Fr. Thomas Vennitti officiating. Burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
