Joanne (Wellington) Kurty, 84, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022, at her home after a lengthy illness.

Joanne was born Aug. 4, 1937, in Toronto, daughter of the late Hiram and Tracey (Nation) Wellington.

Before Joanne married, she worked as a bookkeeper for the Toronto Ford Motor Co. Following marriage, she became a homemaker.

She was a member of the Brays Chapel United Methodist Church in Costonia. She loved to read her Bible and pray. Joanne also loved to play bingo and going to flea markets.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Theodore Ted Kurty; son, Von (Susan) Kurty of Steubenville, OH; daughter, Tammi (Bill) Burruss of AL; brother, Robert (Jackie) Wellington of Toronto; four grandchildren, Alexander (Sarah) Burruss of TX, Aaron Burruss of AL, Samantha (Michael) Shaw of Toronto, and Nathaniel Kurty of Akron, OH.

Visitation will be held Tuesday May 17, 2022, from 10 am to 12 noon at the Brays Chapel United Methodist Church in Costonia. A funeral service will follow at noon with Rev. Bobbyjon Bauman officiating and burial will follow in the Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto. www.jefosterfh.com.
