John Baricska, 88 of Smithfield, Ohio passed away Tuesday June 6, 2006 in the Valley Hospice Palliative Care Unit in Steubenville.John was born Dec. 21, 1917 in Emeigh, Pa., son of the late Steve and Anna Kocsis Baricska. He was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Hot Strip Dept. He was Catholic by faith, a social member of the Smithfield American Legion, social member of the Fireman's Club in Dillonvale, loved to fish and was Honorary Mayor of the Slope neighborhood in Smithfield.In addition to his mother, John was preceded in death by his grandson, Roger Baricska, four brothers; William, Gilbert, Joseph, and Frank Baricska; and by three sisters; Mary, Rose Roe, and Margaret Koteles. Surviving are; his wife Geraldine (Kemp) Baricska, whom he married on Sept. 11. 1940, one Son, John "Butch" (Sharon) Baricska of Smithfield, two daughters; Gladys (John) Merckle of Georges Run, and Nancy (Larry) Cook of Smithfield. One sister; Lorraine LeVoir of Michigan and one Brother, Steve Baricska of Michigan.9 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren.Friends and family may call on Friday June 9th, from2-4 and 7-9 pm. at the J. E. FOSTER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 107 Hill ST. Smithfield, Ohio; where Services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am. Msgr. John Kolesar will officiate the Services.
