Obituary

John J. Bodnar 84 of Toronto, Ohio passed away Monday June 6, 2005 in the Carriage Inn of Steubenville. John was born Nov. 10, 1920 in Toronto, son of the late Michael and Anna Zamborsky Bodnar. He retired in 1983 from the former Hancock Manufacturing Co. in Toronto; where he was a foreman in the Halophane Dept. John was veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist's Mate 1st. Class and he also served in the Pacific in the U.S. Marine Corp. as a Medic. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by; his brother George Bodnar, two sisters; Theresa Byers, and Catherine McConnell.Surviving are; his wife Virginia (Shaw) Bodnar, whom he married on Jan. 25, 1947 his children; Susan "Sunny" Lawrence of Murrells Inlet, S.C., John M."Bo" (Linda) Bodnar,Mark R. (Judy) Bodnar all of Toronto, and Rick Bodnar of Columbus. 8 Grandchildren;Nicole (James) Sneathen, Stephanie (Ryan) Bonnizzio, Dr. Charles (Bree) Lawrence, Summer Lawrence, Dr. Matt (Caryn) Bodnar, Jessica (Jason) Winters RN, Erica Bodnar and Adam Bodnar. 3 Great-Grandchildren; Taylor, Nicholas, and Gabriella. Six Sisters; Eleanor Garren of Louisville, Helen Lucas of Stratton, Dorothy (Tom) Brettell of Mingo, Margaret (Tom) Byers of Stratton, Monica (Roger) Lindamood of Uhrichville, and Mary Ann (Jim) Allen of Irondale. A Brother, Michael (Shirley) Bodnar of Toronto. Friends and family may call on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc. 701 Findley St. Toronto; where services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am. Rev. Kevin Rinkes will officiate the service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.Full military honors will be conducted by the Toronto American Legion Post #86 following the Funeral Service at the Funeral Home.
