John William Bill Burchfield, 91, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, at his home.

Bill was born Oct. 26, 1930, in Toronto, son of the late Ray and Linnie (Morrow) Burchfield.

He was retired from the Weirton Steel Corp. having worked in the Sheet Mill for 32 years.

Bill was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. where he served his country in the Korean War. He was a member, and former Commander, of the Toronto American Legion Post #86 and a charter member of the Steubenville City Rescue Mission.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Oscar, Ray, and Harry: three sisters, Lois Smith, Olive Rawson, and Beverly Gamble.

Bill leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Janet (Beasley) Burchfield; four sons, Ronald of Wintersville, Bill & Cyndi of Land O Lakes, FL, Paul and Theresa of Toronto, and Steven Burchfield of Orlando, FL; two daughters, Susan Clements of Wintersville, OH, and Nancy Wynne of TN; brother, James (Joyce) Burchfield of NJ; ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 11 am to 1 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Bills Funeral Service will follow at 1 pm. Rev. Kevin Rinkes will officiate, and burial will follow in the Toronto Union Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Toronto American Legion. www.jefosterfh.com
