John Thomas Courtright, 71, of Rayland, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009 in the Weirton Medical Center.John was born on February 18, 1938, son of the late Marvin L. and Effie (Porter) Courtright. John was a member of the Meadowbrook Church of God in Rayland where he served for 10 years as the Youth Leader; he also volunteered many hours for Habitat for Humanity. John was retired from Weirton Steel where he worked in the Blooming Mill. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Piney Fork Gwyn Allen American Legion Post # 735.John is survived by his loving wife, Diane (Fair) Courtright of home; daughter Kim (Rob) Svoboda of Dillionvale, OH; son Rick Henthorn of Wellsburg, WV; daughter Debbie (Rich) Litwin of Dillionvale, OH; son John R. (Dawn) Courtright of Dillionvale, OH; daughter Missy (Rick) Stokley of Rayland, OH; son Keshon daughters Anna and Stormy Courtright all of home; brother Marvin (Alice) Courtright of New Alexandria, OH. John is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation for John will be held on Sunday, September 20 from 4-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, 107 Hill St. in Smithfield, OH. John's funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 21 at 11am at the Meadowbrook Church of God in Rayland with the Rev. Marvin Schooler officiating. Entombment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain, OH. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Piney Fork American Legion Post # 735 at the cemetery.
