John A. Dunlap, 68, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday Feb. 24, 2012 in Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, Ohio. John was born April 12, 1943 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Alfred and Margaret Karaffa Dunlap.John worked for a while at the Sammis Plant in Stratton, OH and transferred to the Penn Power Bruce Mansfield Plant where he served as Supt. of Maintenance until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church in Toronto, a 1961 graduate of Toronto High School and an avid Amateur Radio Operator, with call letters K8RRQ, for over 50 years. In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his brother William J. "Billy Jo" Dunlap.Surviving are his wife Pam (Porter) Dunlap of home, whom he married on May 15, 1965; his daughter Valarie and her husband Chris Crossley of Weirton, WV; three nephews, his sister-in-law and the family Dachshund Ginger. Visitation for John will be held on Sunday February 26 from 12-2 and 5-7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Findley St. Toronto, OH. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11 am at the Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
