John "Buddy" Green, 84, of Washington, DC, passed away August 24, 2025.
John was born June 12, 1941 in Toronto, OH, son of the late Jack and Kate (Hawkins) Green. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Tim Green and sisters, Terri Chihocky and Jenny Terry.
John attended St. Francis Central School in Toronto, thru the 8th grade, and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. He furthered his education receiving degrees from the University of Maryland in College Park, MD and Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
John was employed for over 40 years in Urban Planning and Transportation. He worked in Akron, OH, the Washington DC Metropolitan area and Prince George's and Montgomery Counties, in Maryland. Much of his work centered around the DC subway and bus systems.
He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church in Washington, DC, and he also belonged to the American Planning Association and the American Institute of Certified Planners.
John is survived by his daughter, Lisa Green (Glenn), and Carmela Acampora; sisters, Anita Compy (Fred), Becky King (Mark), and brother Patrick Green (Terri), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, Sept. 26 at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto from 10 am to 10:45 am. A Memorial Mass for John will follow at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto at 11 am. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will celebrate, and inurnment will follow in the Toronto Union Cemetery.
