Obituary

John H. Hockenberry. 80, of Smithfield formerly of New Alexandria, passed away suddenly Wednesday Feb. 24, 2010 at his home.John was born May 21, 1929 in Rayland, son of the Clyde and Katherine Smith Hockenberry. John was a retired Welding Supervisor for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Mingo Plant, a member of the Smithfield Presbyterian Church, the Brilliant American Legion and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his 1st wife Lucille, and by his brother Clyde "Bud" Hockenberry. Surviving are his wife Margaret "Peg" Kirk Hockenberry of home, his step-son Joseph (Debbie) Sustik of Smithfield, three grandsons, Chris ( Jody ) Sustik of Martins Ferry, Casey Sustik of St. Clairsville, Jason Sustik of Smithfield and three grand-daughters, Macy Jo, Avery and Lexis.Friends and family may call on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm., at the J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 107 Hill St. Smithfield; where Services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am. with Pastor James MacNealy officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens. Brilliant American Legion will provide full Military burial honors at the Funeral Home following the Funeral Service.
