JohnT.Lamantia Sr.,87, our loving husband, father and pap pap, who we will sadly miss, of Toronto, Ohio passed away Monday evening in the WeirtonMedicalCenter.John was born March 26, 1920 in Toronto, OH, son of the late August and Rose Badali Lamantia.John was a member of the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church of Toronto and was a graduate of TorontoHigh School.John was a carpenter for Guy Johnson then worked as a car salesman for Toronto Ford.He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and OhioState Buckeye fan.John was a member of the Toronto American Legion Post # 86 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, he also was a veteran of WWII where he served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by three brothers, Phillip, Joseph and Francis "Frenchie" Lamantia; three sisters, Josephine Hanis, Mary Lamantia, and Rose Ann McLaughlin; a great-grandson Matthew Thomas Cattrell. John is survived by his wife, Helena of 62 years whom he married on June 4, 1945; son Pat and his wife Patty of Toronto, son James and his wife Pattie of Toronto, son John and his wife Judy of Toronto, daughter Ann B. Lamantia of Columbus, OH, daughter Maureen and husband Terry Cattrell of Toronto; three grandsons, Ryan, Todd and Zachary all of Toronto; seven granddaughters, Angie, Julianna, Annaliesse, Breann all of Toronto, Jennifer and Kelly of Columbus, Jessica of Maryland; great grandchildren, Madeleine, Bryan, Jake, Isabelle, Andrew, Jackson and Dryden; brother August "Butch" and his wife Joanne of San Bernadino, CA; two sisters, Teresa Wieclaw of Bradenton, FL, Katie Elson of Canton, OH.Visitation for John will be held on Thursday, August 9 from 1-3 and 6-9pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto with a vigil service to be held at 8pm.A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held on Friday, August 10 at 10am at the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto where prior to the service there will be visitation from 9am up until the Mass at 10am.Msgr. Kurt Kemo will proceed as Celebrant.Burial will follow in TorontoUnionCemetery where full military honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion Post # 86.Our family wishes to thank Dr. Christopher Cowher and Pervaiz Rahman for their special care.
