John E. "Frosty" Lastivka, age 78, of Alliance, died Monday, March 5, 2012, at Alliance Community Care Center. He was born September 12, 1933, in Port Homer, Ohio, to the late Andrew and Anna (Bednar) Lastivka and has resided in Alliance since 1957. John graduated from Toronto High School 1951 and worked at the former Ameritech as a technician until his retiring. A member of the St Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance, he also belonged to the Sleepy Hollow Golf Club and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post No. 1036. John was a United States Marine Corp. veteran, having served in the Korean War. Survivors include his wife Maxine (Crum) Lastivka of Alliance, sister, Bonnie (Paul) Trudics and brother, Joe (Matilda) Lastivka, both of Toronto, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and his trusted friend, his dog "Bubba".A Mass of Christian burial was held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Matthew Mankowski officiating.. Interment followed at Highland Park Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
