John W. "Bill" Sciance, 82, of Toronto, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 21, 2010 surrounded by his family.Bill was born July, 14, 1927 in Toronto, OH, son of the late Chester and Susan (McFarland) Sciance. Bill was a member of the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto, OH. He retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a Foreman in the Electric Shop in the Coke Plant. Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII.In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Helen A. (Yoka) Sciance, who passed away on March, 1, 2006.Bill is survived by his two sons, John (Debbie) Sciance and Robert (Ruby) Sciance of Toronto, OH; two daughters, Dianne "Susie" Miller and Maria Barilla of Steubenville, OH; three sisters, Mary Sciance and Nina Sapp of Toronto, OH and Catherine (Raymond) Porter of Arizona; one brother Ron Sciance of Toronto, OH. Bill is also survived by his grandchildren, Marc Barilla, Heather Carlile, John Thomas (Samantha) Sciance, Natalie (Josh) Starr, Danny Rogers, Bonnie (Ryan) Oberholtzer and Jacob Sciance; and three great-grandchildren.Visitation for Bill will be held on Sunday, January 24 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH. Bill's Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held on Monday, January 25 at 10am at St. Francis R.C.C. in Toronto with Fr. Thomas Vennitti officiating. Burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery. Family and friends are gathering at the funeral home on Monday at 9am prior to the Mass at the Church. A Vigil service will be held on Sunday at 3:30pm at the funeral home.
