John S. Vitek, 87, of Smithfield, OH, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 in Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH. John was born April 3, 1924 in Maynard, OH, son of the late Paul and Mary Barnar Vitek. John was retired from the Titanium Metals Corp. in Toronto, OH, where he was in charge of the maintenance dept. He loved to farm and he enjoyed fishing. John served his country in the US Army during WWII.In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his wife Emma in 1997, his son John D. "Jock" in 2010, two sisters and one brother. Surviving are his son Jeff and his wife Tracy Vitek of Bradley, OH; his daughter Kim Rosiak; his daughter-in-law Cindy Vitek of Smithfield, OH; his brother Ladislav "Babe" and his wife Mary Vittek of Rayland, OH. John is also survived by his special friend whom he loved to spend time with, Joann Louk of Chester, WV and his 6 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.Visitation for John will be Thursday from 3-7 pm at the J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 107 Hill St. in Smithfield, OH. A private family service will take place on Friday. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
