John Freeman Wroten 73 of Smithfield, Ohio passed away on Sunday Aug. 7, 2005 in East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, Ohio. John was born June 21, 1932 in Barbourville, WV., son of the late John William and Evelyn Dowdy Wroten. John graduated from Barboursville High School in 1950. He worked for the Nickelplate Railroad, the Western and Southern Life Insurance Co. and he retired from the Nationwide Insurance Co. in 1989. John was a member of the Smithfield Presbyterian Church for 29 years, where he was an Elder, was also a member of Masonic Lodge #45, The Cadiz Country Club, A.A.R.P., Smithfield American Legion Post #396 and Jefferson Co. Farm Bureau. John was Honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, where he served in the Korean War. John is survived by his wife; Margaret Wrkich Wroten of home, two Sons; John and his wife Carolyn Wroten of Wheeling, WV., Louis and his wife Marya Wroten of Cummings, Ga., his Grandson; John W. Wroten of Wheeling, his Sisters and Brother; Dorothy Hanes of Beckley, W.V., Roger Wroten of Kentucky, Wanda Hess of Columbus, Ohio, Sharon Nicholas of Huntington, W.V. and Judy Bledsoe of Barboursville. 7 nieces and nephews, 5 Great nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call on Wednesday Aug. 10th. from 1 - 3 and 6 -9 pm. at the J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc. 107 Hill St. Smithfield, Ohio; where Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am. Rev. Gary Willingham McLain will officiate. Burial will follow in New Alexandria Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Smithfield American Legion Post # 396.
