IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph A. 'Foley'
Foglio
September 5, 1938 – May 1, 2021
Joseph A. Foley Foglio, 82, of Toronto, OH, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born September 5, 1938, in Steubenville, OH, but raised across the river in Weirton, WV. He was the eldest of three boys born to the late Joseph Foglia and Mary Grace (Cola) Bennett. His grandparents Vincenzo and Angelina Foglia, and Peter and Anna Cola, immigrated to America from Italy in the early 1900s.
Joe excelled as Captain for Weir Highs football team, the Red Riders. After graduation in 1957, he started college at the University of Mississippi, where he was scouted to play ball for Ole Miss. But as much as he loved football, it wouldnt turn out to be his calling. Joe worked at Naples Pizza flipping dough, the Weirton Bus Terminal serving coffee, and Weirton Steel driving a crane before moving to California in 1970, where he became a successful entrepreneur and Executive Diamond in the Amway business, as well as a coach, mentor, and friend for thousands of people. The opportunity to help others was where he found his greatest joy in life.
My Dad was also an Elder at Sonrise Community Church in Santee, CA, and watching them grow into an organization that touched so many was something that blessed my father to the deepest depths of his heart. They are celebrating their 31st Anniversary this year.
In addition to his parents and stepfather, James Walker Bennett, Joe was preceded in death by his oldest son, Nick Joseph (and his wife Kimberly Ann Baltas) Foglio, his nephew Andy Fair, nieces Chrissy Anderson, and Lea Foglio.
Joe leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Norma E. (Jackson) Foglio, daughter, Charrie Foglio of Los Angeles, CA; son, Joseph W. Foglio of Grand Terrace, CA; brothers, James P. (Pinky) Foglio of Weirton and Tony (Sherry) Foglio of Toronto; Aunts, Yolly Sarracino of Fontana, CA and Tillie Lowell of Wintersville, OH; the most fantastic handful of loving cousins, nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Nick (Shana) Foglio, Jessi (Waylon) McCray, Joseph Gino Foglio, Courtney Foglio, and Torri (Chris) Werkheiser; great-grandchildren, Nick, Vinny, Nick, Brandon, Jace, Adlynn, Zach, Lilly, and Logan.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, May 8, from 2 PM to 4 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH, followed by Joes Memorial Service at 4 PM. Pastors Tony and Jimmy Foglio will officiate. The memorial service will be livestreamed on our funeral home facebook page.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Sonrise Community Church in Santee, California.
"When you light a candle with your candle, your candle loses nothing." Joe Foglio
