Joseph T. "Pokey" Hook, 57, of Mingo Jct., OH, passed away on Sunday Aug. 21, 2011 at his home of natural causes. Pokey was born March 16, 1954 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Joseph A. and Nancy Straka Hook. Pokey was employed at the Timet-Titanium Metals Corp. in Toronto. Pokey was a very talented guitar player and musician. He played in numerous bands over the years, most notably the "Back Road Blue."Pokey will be sadly missed by his family and all of his many friends. In addition to his parents, Pokey was preceded in death by his step-mother Lenore J. (Jividen) Hook; his brother Robert Allen Hook and his nephew Scott Tyler Bornyk. Surviving are his wife Kathy (Zahransky) Hook of home; daughter Jodi Lynn Hook and son Benjamin Allen Hook both of Mingo Jct, OH; his sister Marge (Al) Echko of Pittsburgh, PA; three brothers, Steve (Mitzi) Fall of Toronto, OH, John (Dawn) Fall of Columbus, OH and James (Debra) Hook of Coolville, OH; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Penny and Scott Bornyk of Bloomingdale, Ohio. Pokey also leaves several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday 1-3 pm and from 5 pm up til time of Pokey's Funeral Service which at 7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Findley St. Toronto, Ohio. The family would like to thank the Mingo Fire Dept. for help and assistance at their home Sunday evening.
