JosephKarpiel 90, of Smithfield, Ohio formerly of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed away Monday May 8, 2006 in the Acuity Specialty Hospital located on the 3rd Floor of Trinity East in Steubenville.He was born Sept. 12, 1915 in Neffs, Ohio; son of the late Joseph and Mary Bak Karpiel.He was a retired Master Mechanic for the Oglebay-Norton Co. Saginaw Mine in St. Clairsville, retiring in 1977.He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville; and attended Our Lady Queen of Peace in Smithfield.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Szczepanski Karpiel in 1980, his son Mark Allan Karpiel in 1992 and an infant son in 1938.Surviving are his sister Ann Clark of Smithfield and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call on Wednesday evening from 4 to 9 pm. at the J.E.FOSTER FUNERAL HOMES, INC. 107 Hill St.Smithfield. Visitation will also take place on Thursday morning at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Dillonvale from 10:15 am. up til the Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11:00 am.Msgr. John Kolesar will be the Celebrant and burial will follow in OliveBranchCemetery in Harrisville.Wake services will be Wednesday evening at 8:30 pm.
