Joseph E. McGuire, 44, of Toronto, OH, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, July 12, 2024, at his home.

Joe was born August 27, 1979, in Steubenville, OH, son of Thomas G. McGuire and Cynthia D. (Boehke) McGuire.

He was a 1998 graduate of Indian Creek High School and later went on to receive an associate degree from Eastern Gateway Community College.

Joe was a Veteran of the US Navy, having served for six years. He served during the Iraq War era on both the USS Foster and USS Tarawa where he was a Fire Controlman. Joe was honorably discharged from the Navy, as a disabled Veteran, after an incident aboard the Tarawa that affected his hearing. After the Navy Joe worked as a Planner for American Electric Power.

Joe leaves behind his mother, Cynthia McGuire of Toronto; his father, Thomas and wife Judy McGuire of Richmond, OH; brother, David McGuire and his fianc Sarah Bencic, also of Richmond; Joe's fianc, Melissa Wherry and her son, John Wherry, both of Toronto; several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his faithful dog, Luna.

A memorial gathering for Joe will be held on Saturday, August 10 from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Crossroads Church in Wintersville, OH.
