Joseph Vendetta, Sr., 87, of Wintersville, OH, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014 in Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.Joe was born August 5, 1926 in Mingo Jct., OH, son of the late Frank and Natalina (Patrizi) Vendetta.He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where he worked in the Cold Strip and he was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wintersville and a life-time member of the Knights of Columbus in Mingo. Joe was also a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Keller and Mary Fogletti and his brother Dominic Vendetta.Joe leaves behind his wife, Kathryn (Polito) Vendetta, of home whom he married on April 19, 1952; his two sons, John (Debbie) Vendetta of Smithfield, OH and Joseph Frank Vendetta of Steubenville; his two grandsons, Mike of Wintersville and Nicholas of Smithfield. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.Visitation for Joe will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 4-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. His Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 pm with additional visitation from 10 am til time of service. Fr. William Cross will celebrate the service and burial will follow in New Alexandria Cemetery in New Alexandria, OH.
