Joseph Volney, 87, of Smithfield, Ohio passed away Saturday June 21, 2008 in East Ohio Regional Hospital. Joe was born April 6, 1921 in Greentown (Bradley), son of the late Louis and Sophia Bedrava Volney. Joe was retired from Wheeling-Pitts. Steel Corp., Mingo Plant, where he was part of the brick gang. He was catholic by faith and is a member of the Dillonvale American Legion Post # 529.In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by five sisters, Lucy Pospisal, Sophia Antoline, Stella Velus, Mary Greenwood, and Francis Kumbera; and by one brother Louis Volney. Surviving are his wife Mary Bettineschi Volney, whom he married on June 30, 1951, his son Joseph R. (Diane) Volney of Smithfield, his sister Agnes Dolezal of Fla. His Granddaughter Brandy Snyder, two Great-Granddaughters, Abigail Snyder and Cara Arnett all of Smithfield, and several nieces and nephews.Friends and family may call on Monday 5:00 pm. to 8:00 pm., at the J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 107 Hill St. Smithfield, Ohio. Friends and family are invited to attend Joe's committal service on Tuesday morning at 11:00 am., at the Mausoleum Chapel at Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove. Msgr.
