Joyce D. (Matthews) Rine, 77, of New Alexandria, OH, passed away Sunday May 8, 2022, in the Lancia Villa Vista Nursing Home in Steubenville, OH.

Joyce was born Feb. 27, 1945, in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late William and Jessie (Wilburn) Matthews.

She formerly worked at the Georges Run Co-Op and for Buckeye Local Schools in the cafeteria and as a bus driver. Joyce loved playing cards with her friends.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Rine, Sr., Dec. 28, 2021, infant daughter, Kerry Lynn and brother, Ronald Matthews.

Surviving is her daughter, Dana (Tim) Brown of Rayland, OH; son, James R. Bo Rine, Jr. and his companion Marijean of Wintersville, OH; two sisters, Betty Ruttencutter of Bloomingdale, OH, and Dorothy Dehnart of Kouts, IN; three brothers, Donald (Donna) Matthews of Washington, PA, David Matthews of Steubenville, and Calvin (Patricia) Matthews of Bellaire, OH; five grandchildren, Amanda and Tim Brown, Craig, Chelsea, and Josh Rine and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday May 14, 2022, from 11 am to 1 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 107 Hill St. in Smithfield, OH. A private burial will follow in the New Alexandria Cemetery. www.jefosterfh.com
