KARA W. " COACH " BRIGHT, 78 of Rayland, Ohio passed away Friday Oct. 14, 2005 in the Gable Care Center in Hopedale. Kara was born Sept.3,1927 in Brilliant, Ohio; son of the late Kara and Lawson Kennedy Bright. Kara was a retired Educator and Coach in the Smithfield-Dillonvale school systems. He also taught and coached in Floyd Va., and North Carolina. He was a 1945 graduate of Smithfield High School, received his Bachelors Degree from Ohio State University and Milligan College in Tenn., and his Masters of Education Degree from University of Mississippi. In 1962 Kara was the Ohio Fellowship of Christian Athletes Founder and Ohio Sports World Director for Sports World Ministry. He also developed Brightway Center, a Recreational Center for youths on his farm land outside of Smithfield. He touched numerous lives throughout his coaching career and once stated, "there is no greater feeling than to work with kids". Kara also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In addition to his parents Kara was preceded in death by his brother, Ross D. Bright in 1979. He is survived by; his sister, Janet (Don) Rensi of Vonore, TN., sister-in-law Elizabeth Bright of Mingo Jct., four nieces; Pat (Gary) Windon of Mingo Jct., Barbara (Roger) Hartman of Ft. Myers, Fl., Terri (Lee) Bishop of Bolivar, Ohio, Kim (Larry) Yocum of Smithfield, Ohio,three nephews, Ross (Kathy) Bright of Orrville, Ohio, Don Rensi of Greensburg, Pa., Christopher (Gina) Rensi of Chardon, Ohio and 16 Great-nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call on Sunday from 4pm.til-8pm. and on Monday from 4pm. til 7pm. at the J.E.FOSTER FUNERAL HOMES, INC. 107 Hill St. Smithfield. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am. at the Friends Church on Main St. in Smithfield. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove.
