Karl E. Myers of Steubenville, OH, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease, with his loving wife by his side.

Karl was a Fifth-Grade teacher at the former Buena Vista Elementary and McKinley Elementary in Steubenville. He retired in 1994 with 36 years of service.

He was a loving husband to his wife of 63 years, Shirley, and his son David. Karl was a member of the Wintersville United Methodist Church where he served on several committees. He also loved to take care of his flower gardens at home and at the church.

Karl graduated from the former Mingo High School in 1953. He then graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Education. Later in his career, he was a Jennings Scholar. Karl enjoyed travelling, going to Europe, Hawaii, and Alaska, and numerous trips to Florida with his family.

Karl was preceded in death by his father, Carl R. Myers in 1951, and mother, Agnes (Smith) Myers Jarvis in 1973; mother and father-in-law, Russell and Margaret (Burchfield) Achhammer; brother-in-law, Chester Wiley, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He leaves behind his longtime sweetheart and wife, Shirley (Achhammer) Myers, whom he married July 19, 1958; son David G. Myers of Mechanicsburg, PA; sister-in-law, Judy Wiley of Bloomingdale, OH; best friend of over 40 years, Dennis Milko of Steubenville; Becky Foster of Toronto, who Karl taught with at McKinley Elementary; and many other relatives. Karl will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 24 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Wintersville United Methodist Church followed by his funeral service at 1 pm. Rev. Dr. Clint Quillen, Jr. will officiate, and a private burial will follow in the Union Cemetery in Steubenville.
