Katherine L. (Hughes) Staten, 80, of St. Clairsville, OH, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at her home.

Kathy was born Nov. 29, 1941, in Wellsburg, WV, daughter of the late Robert and Clara (Brothers) Hughes.

Kathy was retired from the R&F Coal Co., in Cadiz, OH, where she worked as a warehouse manager. She enjoyed her family and playing the slots.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Hughes.

Surviving are her children, Robert (Shari) Staten, Debra (Carl) Cihon, Mark (Tammy) Staten all of Smithfield, OH, and James (Janice) Staten of St. Clairsville, OH, with whom she resided; brother, James Hughes of Seattle, WA; nine grandchildren, Morgan and Hunter Staten, Sara Roach, Adam (Melissa) Cihon, Tabitha (Grady) Bensie, Mark (Kayla) Staten, Jr., Joseph Staten, Chayse and Noah Staten, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 30, from 11 am to 3 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. A graveside committal service will be held in the Northern Cemetery in Smithfield at the convenience of the family. www.jefosterfh.com
