IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen (Kruise)
Smith
July 31, 1946 – December 31, 2025
Kathy Smith (Ina Kathleen Kruise) of Fairfield, CA, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 31, 2025. She leaves behind a family who adored her and a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.
Kathy's greatest and most cherished role was being a grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she truly came alive in that role. She loved them fiercely, showed up for them wholeheartedly, and took immense pride in each and every one. Being "Grandma" wasn't just a title for Kathy—it was her calling.
Known as the life of the party, Kathy had a sharp wit, a big heart, and a true spitfire spirit. She was incredibly funny, thoughtful, and full of personality. She loved music, dancing, and especially karaoke, where she made countless friends and filled rooms with laughter. Whether she was singing along, cheering others on, or cracking a perfectly timed joke, Kathy had a way of making everyone feel welcome and entertained.
Kathy was born in and grew up in Toronto, Ohio, alongside her five siblings. She was a 1964 graduate of Toronto High School. Family meant everything to her, and her favorite place was anywhere she could be surrounded by the people she loved most, especially her siblings and extended family back in Ohio.
She is survived by her son, Britton Smith, and her daughter, Anjanette Call (Tom). She was a proud grandmother to Thomas Call III (Amanda), Brittany Barnes (Jeff), Max Smith, Grace Smith, Angelo Smith, and she is reunited in heaven with her beloved granddaughter, Annabelle Call. She also was blessed to have 2 Great Grandchildren, Charlie Call and Thomas Call IV, all of California.
Kathy is also survived by her siblings: Merrie Lynne Zeigler, Patricia (John) Kosin, Ralph John Kruise, Thomas (Shirley) Kruise, Rita Dukes, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Janet Kruise.
Kathy's spirit will live on in every story told, every song sung, and every moment of laughter shared in her honor.
A Memorial Service is being planned for April and will be held in Toronto at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home. www.jefosterfh.com
