Obituary

Kenneth Thomas Hudok Jr., a man whose life was defined by adventure, laughter, learning, and love, passed away on February 10, 2025, at the age of 51, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma.

Born in Steubenville, OH, to the late Kenneth Hudok Sr. and Judith Scheel Bender, who survives, Ken spent his early years in Stratton, OH, before moving to Chantilly, VA, where he graduated from Chantilly High School in 1991.

In addition to his father, Ken was also preceded in death by grandparents, Paul & Jane (Straka) Hudok and Katherine Eileen (Conrad) Scheel, uncle, Christopher Hudok, and two cousins, Amanda Welday and Denis Petrisko.

Ken met his future wife, Tiffany, at William and Mary in 1993 and later married on August 3, 1996. In addition to Tiffany and his mother Judy, Ken leaves behind his daughter, Zoe Jameson, and son Benjamin Xander; grandfather, William Scheel; sister, Gretchen (Bryan) Foster; nephews, Elijah and Mason, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved friends.

He earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from Kent State University and a master's degree in Cybersecurity from the University of Maryland University College. His career took him from network engineer at the Department of Energy to leadership roles in cybersecurity at prominent organizations like Promontory Financial Group and Jackson Financial, culminating in his role as enterprise architect of cybersecurity for Meijer. He also shared his expertise as an adjunct professor at Western Michigan University, where he developed a cyber program. His career afforded him the opportunity to travel the world.

He served as an Oshtemo Township Trustee from 2016-2020. After his glioblastoma diagnosis, he dedicated himself to supporting fellow cancer patients. His personal motto, "Be Impactful, drive change, and be the tide that raises all ships," reflected his approach to life.

Ken was also a devoted fan of Pittsburgh sports. He cheered on the Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers with passion, and he was also a Star Wars aficionado.

A local Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, March 1 starting at 1 PM at the Crawford Hall at the Knoxville Fire Station.

Ken's final gift, a gift of hope for future generations battling glioblastoma, was the donation of his brain to the University of Michigan for research. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Brain Tumor Network at www.braintumornetwork.org/donate/.
