Obituary

Kenneth "Bub" R. McMannis, age 84, passed away on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Bub was born on August 20, 1941, to parents Richard Benson "Benny" McMannis and Ethel Juanita Stewart in Steubenville, Ohio.

He was one of eight siblings, one brother and six sisters. He joined the Air Force in 1959 and served his country during the Vietnam War.

On his birthday in 1982, he traveled to Virginia to marry the love of his life, Delores Hunt. He met Delores through mutual friends, a couple with whom they would often go dancing. Delores insisted that they were not "dating," but soon found herself traveling to see him on the weekends.

As a truck driver, Delores would spend her vacation days with Bub while he drove. He knew she feared heights, and as a protective and loving husband, would let her sit in the back seat while they traveled over tall bridges, letting her know when it was safe to return to the front of the cab. On their adventures, they visited Graceland, Dollywood, and Loretta Lynn's ranch and many other beautiful places.

Bub loved music and especially enjoyed listening to "Go Rest High" by Vince Gill and "Stand Alone" by Elvis Presley. Delores's cellphone sang Conway Twitty's "Hello Darlin'" to her when he called, because that was always his greeting to her.

Bub is remembered by his loved ones as a good man, protective, and always looking for a way to help those around him. He leaves behind a family who loves him dearly and a legacy of overwhelming kindness. When he would leave, he would always confirm in a trucker's voice "10-4," like he was speaking over the radio. Bub left this world on 10-4, as though to let his family know he was safe.

Bub is survived by his wife Delores; sisters Sherry Walker, Judy Baker, and Joyce White; brother Chuck McMannis; children Debbie Bartelson, Kimberly Anderson, Lorraine Goodrich, Ramona Moore, Tonya Flesher, Kevin Hunt, and Kamra Hunt; and too many loving grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews to count.

He is preceded in death by his parents Benny and Ethel McMannis; son Kenny McMannis; and sisters Ethel Louise "Punkin", Donna McCourt, and Jackie Hass.

Bub's family asks that each person who loved him remember him in their own way while they celebrate his life privately.
