Obituary

Kirk Douglas Schevlin, 65, of Wintersville, OH, passed away suddenly July 8th, 2022.

Kirk was born May 22, 1957, in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Robert and Ruth (Ekers) Schevlin.

Kirk worked as the director of Impact Ministries of the Ohio Valley where he and his wife, Trinka, supported pastoral families in the ministry.

Kirk was called into the Lords service at 16 years of age. He followed his family in the ministry of Ohio Valley Teens for Christ where he later served as director.

Kirk was a 1975 graduate of Toronto High School. He went on to further his education at Kent State University with a liberal arts degree. He also studied at the Christ Unlimited Bible Institute (CUBI). Thereafter, he attained his Doctorate from the Covington Theological Seminary in Rossville, GA.

In 1990, Kirk relocated to NJ to be the pastor of a church. He ministered there for 29 years. During that time, he also worked as a teachers aid in the care/education of multi-handicapped and disabled students for 25 years in NJ schools. Throughout those years, Kirk traveled on missionary trips to Romania, New Mexico reservations and four trips to Uganda, Africa.

Kirk enjoyed crossword puzzles and collected lighthouses. He offered himself as a handyman to those in need. He served Toronto as a volunteer fireman, an EMT, and as a Chaplain for the Toronto HS Football team. Kirk enjoyed southern gospel music.

His other past occupations included cemetery lawn care in Toronto, security at the Sammis Plant, maintenance at Whispering Hills complex, a McDonalds cook, school bus driver, truck driver for a rock quarry and photo developer at Walmart. Kirk was also an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs.

Kirk was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ruth Schevlin, and cousin Joyce Kell.

Surviving Kirk are his wife Trinka and their sons, Patrick, and Jeffrey, with wife Melanie and daughter Hannah, both of New Jersey; brother Keith, wife Christina and daughters Kelley, Holly and son Kaleb of Ohio; brother Kent, wife Gaila, daughter Rebecca, son Richard and son KJ of South Carolina; sister Kristen Willett, husband Robert, daughter Mykenna and son Hunter of Ohio; cousins Karol Eastman, Lucinda Lovelace of Florida and Ronald Bruce Kell of Alaska. Kirk also had 1 granddaughter and 5 nieces and nephews.

At Kirks request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Samaritans Purse at www.samaritanspurse.org.
