Lawrence E. 'Larry' Rock, 78, of Toronto, Ohio passed Sunday May 19, 2024, at Weirton Medical Center.

He was born September 18, 1945, in Steubenville, Ohio. the son of the late Edward and Magdalene Ladomersky Rock.

After graduating from Toronto High School, Class of 1963, Larry was employed by Titanium Metals Corporation. In 1965, he enlisted in the Navy and served on the Fort Snelling for two years during the Vietnam era. While serving 4 years of Naval Reserve duty, he was employed at the Edison Power Plant in Stratton, Ohio.

With an interest in telecommunications, he furthered his education at AETS Trade School in Niles, Ohio. After graduation, he began his career at AEP Ohio as a telecommunication specialist until his retirement in 2003.

Larry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Beatty Rock; daughter Megan Martin of Toronto; son Troy (Kristen) Rock of Jasper, Indiana; grandsons Zachary and Lucas Martin of Weirton, West Virginia; sisters Carolyn Maus and Diana 'Dani' (Charles) Swearingen both of Toronto; brother Charles (Linda) Rock of North Lawrence, Ohio; and his special pup Hope.

Larry had a great interest in telecommunications with HAM radio. He served as an officer in the Steubenville Amateur Radio Club in the 1970s. K8LER is now a silent key.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 23 from 4 to 7 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home. Rev. Kevin Rinkes will celebrate Larry's life Friday at 1:30 PM at the funeral home followed by burial at Island Creek Cemetery. Military Honors at the cemetery will be presented by the Toronto American Legion.
