Louis R. Cassels, 72, of Dillonvale, OH, passed away Sat. Aug. 23, 2014 in East Ohio Regional Hospital ER in Martins Ferry, OH. Louis was born July 23, 1942 in Martins Ferry, son of Gladys E. Stewart Cassels who survives and the late Howard Cassels, who passed away in 1973. Louis was retired from the Martins Ferry Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, where he worked on the galvanize line. He was Baptist by faith and a member of AARP, Easter Seals and the Farm Bureau. Louis was a Veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam War. Surviving in addition to his mother Gladys of home, are his brothers and sisters, Linda (Edmond) Jackson of Ellsworth, PA, John (Shirley) Cassels, James Cassels all of Dillonvale, Pauline (Bruce) Olier of Wintersville, OH, Clyde (Betty) Cassels of Dillonvale, Frank Cassels of Tiltonsville, OH, Terry (Tina) Cassels of Dillonvale, Debbie (Bob) Myler of Toronto, OH, Paul Cassels of Dillonvale and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 26 from 3 - 6 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 107 Hill St. in Smithfield, where Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am. Pastor Lori Jones will officiate and burial will follow in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield. Full Military honors will be provided by the Piney Fork American Legion.
