Margaret M. (Smurda) Mazaris, 93, of Toronto, OH, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at her home.

Margaret was born June 22, 1923 in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Romey) Smurda.

She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Toronto and she was an avid golfer at Dyer Country Club. Margaret was a homemaker who worked at Weirton Steel during WWII.

Margaret was the biggest Pittsburgh Pirates fan, never missing a game. Strong willed and spirited, she was small in stature but mighty in the way she lived her life. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and she will be remembered as a good friend, loving mother and grandparent.

In addition to her parents Michael and Mary, she was preceded in death by the greatest love of her life, husband George Mazaris who passed in 1980, her two brothers, George and John and her sister Mary.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Mazaris of Columbus, OH, her son, James Mazaris of Lake City, FL and her grandson, Nic Mazaris of Macon, GA.

Margarets funeral service will be held Thursday, June 15 at 12 noon at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH. There will be two hours of visitation on Thursday from 10 am til time of her service at 12 noon. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will officiate and her burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
