Marie J. (Sadar) Bednar, 90, of Dillonvale, OH (Piney Fork), passed away Saturday July 14, 2012 in East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, OH. Marie was born Nov. 23, 1921 in Wybor, PA, daughter of the late Frank and Amelia (Strasizer) Sadar, Sr. Marie worked from 1965 to 1980 as a clerk at the Piney Fork Post Office. She was a member of the former St. Therese Catholic Church in Piney Fork, where she was active in the Catholic Women's Club. Marie was currently a member of St. Adalbert Church in Dillonvale. She also was a member of Slovenian SNPJ Society for 72 years. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband Edward Bednar who passed in 2001; her son-in-law Larry Hauber in 2002; her grandchildren Abram, Anthony, Alex, Athena, Amelia and Argie Hauber; her two brothers Frank Jr., and Joseph Sadar. Surviving are her daughter Carol A. Hauber of Piney Fork, OH; her son Ed (Darla) Bednar of Wintersville, OH; her grandsons, Eddie Bednar of Steubenville, OH and Chuck Bednar of Wintersville, OH; her great-grandson Logan Bednar of Steubenville, OH; her brother John Sadar of Hopedale, OH; her special friend Thelma Winland of Piney Fork, OH and co-care worker Michael Dalzell of the home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 18, 2012 from 2-6 pm, at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 107 Hill St. Smithfield, OH. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday at St. Adalbert Church in Dillonvale from 9:15am to the time of Marie's Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10am. Msgr. John Kolar will celebrate the Mass and burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
