Mark J. Miller, 54, of Toronto, OH, passed away suddenly Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016 in the Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.

Mark was born March 5, 1962 son of Margaret (Leitch) Coleman.

He was currently a journalist for the Steubenville Herald Star covering the city of Toronto and various other topics including music. Mark was awarded the AP Award for Small Market Journalism for his music column. Mark was also employed as a guitar teacher with DC Music in East Liverpool, OH. Over the years he has taught guitar and spread his knowledge and passion of music to a countless number of students.

Mark was a volunteer with the Team MOJO Foundation giving free guitar lessons to underprivileged kids and their motto was Helping Kids Shine. He was the current Board President of the Helping Hands Food Pantry in Toronto.

Mark was a local musician writing and recording his own music as well as playing in many local bands over the years which included: The Hostages, Gemini, Fortune, Voices, Grain, The Inside Out Band, Soulfinger, Acoustic Lizard and Kaiju 7 to name a few.

In addition to his mother, Margaret (Bob) Coleman of Toronto, he is survived by his girlfriend, Amber Rebres of Toronto; his two sisters, Megan M. Miller of Bradenton, FL and Michele M. Chilenski of Hilliard, OH; his step-sister, Kelli (Erik) DelGuzzo of Gahana, OH; his nephew Shane Habig, niece Michaela Chilenski, nephew Clay Chilenski, great-niece Nadia DeNoon Habig and his furbaby Coltrane.

There will be a memorial visitation gathering on Thursday, Dec. 29 from 4-7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 701 Findley St. in Toronto followed by a Memorial Service at 7 pm. Rev. Eric Frey will officiate the service and stories will be shared by his family and friends.
