Obituary

Marsha Lynn (Mulrooney) Hughes, 63, of Toronto, OH, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022, at her home.

Marsha was born August 20, 1959, in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late John Edward and Janet Lucille (Ferguson) Mulrooney.

She was a 1977 graduate of Toronto High School, and a 2003 graduate of the Trinity School of Nursing. Marsha had worked for a while outside of school, but her main job was remaining at home raising her children.

In addition to her parents, Marsha was preceded in death by her brother, Blaine Mulrooney in 1963.

Marsha leaves behind her husband, Kevin M. Hughes, whom she married Sept. 21, 1985; children, Ian, special Kelsey, and Alyx Hughes all of Toronto, her sister, Sue Polen of Steubenville, OH, and numerous brother/sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Marsha made the best of her life, despite challenges she faced from as early as childhood, such as the loss of her brother Blaine at a very young age. She always took hardships and misfortune in stride using the wisdom of her grandmother: "You either laugh or cry."

She cared deeply about those she loved and only wanted the best for them. Her goal was to share wisdom to help protect all the ones she loved. Marsha even wrote a book called "End the Madness of Mental Illness" in hopes of getting those affected with a mental illness diagnosis to fully heal through self-empowerment.

While certain things in her life didnt go the way she had hoped/planned, she often said her proudest accomplishment was having children, who she always put first and would do anything for.

Marsha enjoyed having all the animals (cats and dogs) she could not have as a child and frequently walked her dogs around town. She had rescued many animals over the years from local adoption centers.

She also immensely enjoyed antique shopping for items that reminded her of the best parts of her childhood and anything that sparked joy. Almost every adventure would end with a meal she thoroughly enjoyed while reflecting on how much fun she just had.

Marsha will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her, love her and be loved by her.

Marshas wishes were to be cremated with a private gathering to be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto.
