Martha L. West of Smithfield, passed away on Tuesday August 23, 2005 in the extended care unit of East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry. Martha was born Oct. 27, 1912 in Smithfield, daughter of the late Douglas and Catherine Harris Christian. She was retired from the Co-op Store in Smithfield where she worked for many years a Clerk. She is a life long member of the Shaffer Chapel A.M.E. Church in McIntyre, is a Gold Star Mother, is a member of the O.E.S. Chapter #53 Star of Bethlehem Lodge, where she was Past Matron, and is a member of the Smithfield Federated Democratic Women's Club, where she is a Past President. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; her husband Albert B. West in Oct. 1969, her son Philip L. West in 1954, a twin sister, 3 brothers, and a Infant Daughter.Surviving are; Her son Michael G. West of Wheeling, Grandchildren; Michael G. Neil of Wheeling, Sean Leon West of Steubenville, Sharise N. Paige-West of Wheeling, Germey Mychal Paige-West of Wheeling, Christine J. Brown of Kent, Brooks Hurtz of Steubenville,Jocelyn R. Neil of Wheeling and T.O. Sears of Steubenville, and 5 Great-Grandchildren. Fiends and family may call on Thursday Evening 6pm til 9pm. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc. 107 Hill St. Smithfield. Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am. at the Shaffer Chapel A.M.E. Church in McIntyre, Rev. Madonna Gray will officiate and burial will follow in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield.
