Mary L. Cookie Fisher, 81, of Toronto, OH, passed away Thursday June 6, 2024, in the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.

Cookie was born Nov. 1, 1942, in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late Lee and Wilma (Merkle) McConnell.

Cookie was a 1960 graduate of Toronto High School. After high school she attended Ohio University where she graduated in 1964 with her bachelors degree. She went on to become an elementary school teacher for Toronto City Schools and retired after 30 years of service.

She was a member of the Riverview Methodist Church, Dyer Country Club, and the Three Arts Assoc.

In addition to her parents, Cookie was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. William McConnell, and brothers-in-law, Gary Fisher and Tom Dunlap.

Surviving is her husband, George T. Fisher, Jr. whom she married June 19, 1965; two sons, George T. Troy Fisher and Eric Lee Fisher, and companion Lisa Owen, both of Toronto; her "special" granddaughter, Mackenzie Owen; brother, Dr. Charles (Betty) McConnell of Cincinnati, OH; sister-in-law, Melissa Dunlap and brother-in-law, Bill (Cindy) Fisher both of Toronto, and several nieces and nephews.

Cookies wishes were to be cremated, with no services observed. Her arrangements are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto.
