Mary Jo McHugh, 81, of Smithfield, OH, died at her home on Monday, March 21, 2011.Mary Jo was born on February 1, 1930, in Huntington, WV, daughter of the late Claro Lee Fizer and the late Katharine "Kate" Marsh Fizer.Mary Jo spent her early years in Wellsburg, WV, graduating from Wellsburg High School and receiving her bachelor's degree in education from Marshall University. Mary Jo was dedicated first grade teacher for 32 years at Smithfield Elementary in the Buckeye Local School District. She was a member of the Smithfield Christian Church serving at one time as deaconess, a member of the Smithfield Historical Society, and a member of the former Smithfield Women's Club.In addition to her parents, Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Warren McHugh; her brother, Robert Marsh Fizer of Ft. Myers, FL and a nephew, Robert Fizer, Jr. of FL.Mary Jo is survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Fizer; nephew Scott (Heidi) Fizer; niece Tonia (Johnny) Hargrove; great nieces Nicole (Marvin) Negron, Christina Fizer, Hope Fizer, and Taylor Hargrove; great, great nieces Ashley Negron and Emily Grace Fizer; and her extended family, Miquel and Cindy Sineriz, all of Florida. Friends and family will be received on Friday, March 25 from 10am up until the time of Mary Jo's funeral service at 12pm noon at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, 107 Hill St. in Smithfield, OH. Rev. Wilford Simeral will officiate Mary Jo's service and burial will follow in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield, OH.
