Mary Jo (Elizabeth) Payne, 78, went home to be with her lord and savior on July 17,th, 2008. She died peacefully at home following a short illness. She was born on June 18, 1930 in Peoria, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Oscar Ray Ashcraft, Sr. and the late Blanche Hosana Ross Ashcraft Copenhour. She retired from the Steubenville Country Club in 1998, after many years of providing for her family. Her great loves were her family, her home, reading, and her flower garden. She will be sadly missed by all her extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Walter L. Snyder, whom she married on June 5, 1947 in Shinnston, West Virginia, her second husband Donald J. Payne, whom she married Aug. 25,1962 in Toronto, Ohio, and her brother Ray Ashcraft, Jr. She was the beloved mother of Robert Conolly Snyder, Nancy Richards and her husband Keith, Michelle Sullivan and her companion Mike Sims, and Donna Jo Payne. She loved and took much pride in her grandchildren, Dusty Bowers and her husband John, Lori Richards, Laila Skidmore and her husband Curt, Kip Cawathorn, Ian Robinson, Nicole Lumpkin, and Christopher Payne. In recent years she enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren, Caleb and Jensen Cook, Jillian Lumpkin, and Brett Skidmore.Friends and family may call on Sunday from 2 - 6 pm. at the 1st. United Methodist Church, 6th and Main St. in Toronto, where services will be held on Monday at11:00 am. Rev. Kevin Rinkes will officiate and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery. J. E.
