Mary Elizabeth (Sokol) Grimes, 73, of Toronto, OH, passed away Monday Aug. 26, 2024, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.

Mary was born Feb. 18, 1951, in Steubenville, daughter of the late Michael P. and Elizabeth Lucille (Abramowicz) Sokol.

She was retired from Trinity Medical Center, both East and West, where she dedicated 43 years as a Registered Nurse.

Mary was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto, former member of the Red Hats, and a proud member of the Toronto Pool Ladies.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Jackie Grimes, and recently by her brother, Michael Sokol.

Surviving is her husband of 51 years, Thomas A. Grimes, whom she married March 3, 1973; son Tommy (Jodie) Grimes and grandson Landon Grimes; sister Theresa (Frank) Popp; brother Joey Sokol; two sisters-in-law, Linda Moore and Linda Sokol, all of Toronto, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, September 21 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto. Mary's family will receive friends from 9:45 AM to 10:30 AM. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will celebrate. A luncheon will follow Mass in the church hall (basement).

Memorial donations may be made in Mary's memory to the Tony Teramana Cancer Center 3204 Johnson Rd. Steubenville, OH 43952.
