Michael William Swaykus, Jr., 63, of Toronto, OH, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at his home. Mike was born November 13, 1950 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Michael W. Sr., and Betty Hannan Swaykus.Mike was a French teacher at Weirton Madonna High School and Steubenville Catholic Central High School where he recently retired from. He was a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto and also owner of the former Mike's Market in Toronto.In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Swaykus Jones.Mike leaves behind his three children, daughter Danielle (Carr) McElroy of Tallmadge, OH, who are the parents of his grandson Blake McElroy, daughter Daya Swaykus of Garrettsville, OH and son Michael W. Swaykus III with whom Mike resided in Toronto; his sister Susan (Jon) Greiner of Toronto; two nieces Michelle (Dan) Means of Toronto and Shanley (Chris) Fair of Millersburg, OH. Visitation for Mike will be held on Friday, Dec. 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH and again on Saturday morning from 9 - 9:30 am before going to St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto for his Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10 am. Rev. Father Thomas Vennitti will Celebrate the Mass and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Vigil Service will be held on Friday at 3:45 pm.Memorial donations may be made in Mike's memory to Valley Hospice or Steubenville Catholic Central High School.
