Michele M. Barnes, 63, of Toronto, OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, in the Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.

Michele was born Dec. 22, 1962, in Steubenville, daughter of the late Walter C. "Duke" and Genevieve A. "Jennie" (Zarych) Zimnox. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William 'Todd' Barnes, in 2023, and her brothers, David, John, and Dennis Zimnox.

Michele graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central in 1981 and earned her degree in Business Accounting from Duquesne University in 1985. She served as Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer at the family business, Zimnox Coal Co. In addition, Michele co-founded and managed Conveyor Equipment and Supply in 1991 with her husband, Todd.

Michele was an active member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, and CWC, in Toronto. She looked forward to their family vacation every year either to Myrtle Beach or Florida. For the last six and a half years she has been blessed to spend time with her grandson, the joy of her life, Luca.

Michele leaves behind her daughter, Ashley and husband Jeremy Fabian, and grandson Luca Fabian of Bloomingdale, OH. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly, and many very close friends.

Visitation is set for Thursday, Jan. 29 from 4–7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Toronto. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will follow on Friday at 11 am at St. Francis Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Vennitti, with visitation beforehand from 10–11 am. Interment will take place in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville.
