Mildred A. Barna, 84, of Toronto, OH, passed away Dec. 29, 2021 after a lengthy stay at the Carriage Inn of Steubenville, OH.

She was born March 8, 1937, in Marianna, PA, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Mihalik) Maydak of Stratton, OH.

A dedicated wife, mother, Baba, daughter, sister, and friend who cared unselfishly for others. She will be sorely missed.

Mildred was a member of the Holy Transfiguration Russian Orthodox Church in Steubenville. She was a 1955 graduate of Toronto High School.

She worked for First Energy Power (formally Ohio Edison) as an administrative secretary. Mildred was an avid bowler in the Toronto Bowling League spanning many years of passion for the sport.

In addition to her parents, Mary and Peter Maydak, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory and daughter, Amy Barna, of Toronto and Daniel Maydak, of Stratton.

Surviving Mildred is her brother, Cornel Maydak of Union, KY; nephews, Kurt, Michael and niece, Portia; granddaughter, Kirsten (Adam) Sutherin; great granddaughters, Alayna and Allison; grandson, Bobby Hannen and great grandson, Felix; granddaughter, Alex Barna and great grandchildren, Brently Fox, Ellie, Serena, and Georgie Richardson.

Visitation will be held Monday Jan. 3 from 4 to 7 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto where a Parastas service will be held at 6 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at the Holy Transfiguration Russian Church in Steubenville. Fr. Andrew Nelko will officiate, and interment will follow in the Union Cemetery in Steubenville.
