Martin

Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses
3:00 - 4:00 pm (Eastern time)
Myrtle Ellen Martin, 81, of Wintersville, OH, formerly of Toronto, OH, passed away on Friday April 3, 2026, in the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Myrtle was born on Sept. 13, 1944, in East Liverpool, OH, daughter of the late Shirley Vincent and Elizabeth (Sims) Vincent LeMasters.
Myrtle often said she did not like school, because she was so shy and hated studying. Despite her struggles, she was proud to be the first in her family to graduate high school, J.U. class of '63.
Myrtle's love for God and His Word the Bible changed her view of studying. She became a full-time minister on September 1, 2004. Which gave her the opportunity to attend Pioneer Service School four times. It was a learning experience she truly enjoyed and encouraged everyone to try it at least once.
She formerly worked for Weight Watchers, and she was a homemaker. Myrtle was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation in Wintersville.
Motivated by her great love for Jehovah, Myrtle helped as many as she could to draw close to Him as their Father, God and Friend.
In the Steubenville congregation and beyond many viewed her as their Mama Myrtle, Grandma Myrtle, Aunt Myrtle or sister. She adopted and was adopted by more families than could possibly be named.
Myrtle was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Hannen, second husband, Harris Martin, two sisters, Marcella Benegar, Barbara Whitacre, and stepfather, Kermit LeMasters.
Surviving are her children, Elizabeth (Ross) Hayhurst, Robert ‘Bob’ (Julie) Hannen, Jr., both of Toronto, Melissa (Rob) Patton and Carolyn Jo Hannen, both of Wintersville; sister, Carolyn Critser of Toronto, and brother, Gary (Bonnie) Lemasters of Wellsville, OH; seven grandchildren, Brian Hayhurst, Joshua (Kristina) Hayhurst, Kortney (Nathan) Slussar, Tiffany (Adam) Wiles, Ashley (Shawn) Joseph, Jacob Thompson, Robert Hannen III, and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 25, at 3 pm at the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation in Wintersville, with Travis Farmer officiating.
Myrtle often said of her loved ones who had died, "They are in the safest place they could be, in Jehovah's memory." All who loved her are confident that Jehovah too remembers His dear friend Myrtle. For now, she will rest, but she will stand up for her lot at the end of the days. - Daniel 12:13
