Nancy Jean Jeffrey, 93, of Black Mountain, NC, formerly of Toronto, OH, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, in the Mountain Ridge Health and Rehab Facility.

Jean was born September 3, 1931, in Wendell, ID, daughter of the late Harold Barrett; stepfather, Norman Riedesel and mother, Sadie (Haye) Riedesel.

After graduating from high school, Jean attended the Aultman Hospital School of Nursing in Canton, OH. She received her degree and began working as a Registered Nurse for the Ohio Valley Hospital in Steubenville, OH. She retired as a home health nurse for Tri-County Home Health Agency, in Toronto, OH. She was an active member of Hilltop Church, Upper Ohio Valley Presbytery and Stanton Community Choir.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Jeffrey, who passed in 2012, brother, Rev. Edward Riedesel, who passed in 2022 and daughter, Jill Berry, who passed in 2018.

Jean leaves behind three daughters, Dona (Joe) Cavanaugh of Richmond, OH, Beth (Tim) Alban of Massillon, OH, and Ruth (Tim) Shivers of Black Mountain, NC; sister, Elizabeth Truax of Toronto, Ohio and sister, Charlotte McMurray of Charles City, VA; son-in-law, Mike Berry of MD; nine grandchildren, Lauren Barker, Ben Wilson, Emily Clark, Leah Cavanaugh, Jeff Berry, Travis Alban, Tyler Alban, William Shivers, Sadie Shivers, and ten great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 21 from 11 am to 1 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto where services will follow at 1 pm. Rev. Jane Schockey will officiate, and burial will follow in the Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto.
