Obituary

Nathan S. Watkins, 64, of Toronto, OH, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026, in the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.


Born on December 6, 1961, in Steubenville, OH, Nate was the son of the late R. Curtis and Martha (Craft) Watkins.


Nate was a 1980 graduate of Jefferson Union (JU) High School. He went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Akron. After college, Nate went to work for Standard Slag in Mingo Jct., OH. He then moved on to become an engineer and quality control manager with The Shelly Company based out of Twinsburg, OH, part of the Old Castle Group.


He was a large supporter of the Ohio Farm Bureau, the FFA, 4-H and Boys Scouts. Nate enjoyed carpentry and music and was a former singer with the local ‘Friends’ vocal group and the Steubenville Players’ group.


Nate leaves behind his wife, Debbie (Clark) Watkins, whom he married July 7, 1990; his children, Zachary (Michaela) Watkins of Bergholz, OH, Erin (Bo) Speedy of Irondale, OH, Michael (Martina) Watkins of Bloomingdale, OH, and Ava Watkins of Toronto; brother, Christian (Nancy) Watkins of New Cumberland, WV; four grandchildren, Kathryn, Ellen, Cora, and Andi, and several nieces and nephews.


Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 8 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Nate’s service will follow at 6 pm with Rev. Jason Elliott.
