Nelson E. Puch, 72, of Smithfield, OH, passed away Saturday November 19, 2016 in the Villa Vista Nursing Home in Steubenville, OH.

Nelson was born May 24, 1944 at home on the family farm in Rayland, OH, son of the late Stanley and Ernesta (Duda) Puch.

He was part-owner of the former B and N Shell Service Station in Smithfield, OH.

He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Piney Fork American Legion.

Nelson is survived by his wife Shelley P. (Bucey) Puch, whom he married on April 13, 1968; his son, Todd (Christine) Puch of Lake Forest, IL; his daughter, Stacie Hansley of Steubenville; three sisters, Margaret Muhlman of New Philadelphia, OH, Shirley Puch of GA and Nancy Torok of Mansfield, OH; three brothers, John Puch of Connorsville (Rayland), Stanley (Rebecca) Puch and Kenneth (Colleen) Puch all of Nikiski, AK; four grandchildren, Alexander and Robert Puch, Kristina (Bill) Wade and Casey Cunningham; four great-grandchildren, Michelle Hall, twins Sara and Kaden Wade and D.J. McNeeley.

Visitation for Nelson will be held on Wednesday Nov. 23, 2016 from 3-7 pm at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home 107 Hill St. in Smithfield. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 am (because of the Thanksgiving) with Kenny Kourim officiating. Burial will follow in the Bloomingdale Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors provided by the Piney Fork American Legion Post # 735.

Following the graveside services, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Smithfield Presbyterian Church Social Hall. www.jefosterfh.com
