Obituary

Olga Mihalik, 83, of Toronto, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 5 at her home. She was born on Oct. 12, 1923 in South Side, Pittsburgh, daughter of the late John and Eva Kiselica. In addition to her parents, Olga was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Joseph and her sisters, Rozalia and Mary and an infant sister Anna. At the center of her life was the Orthodox Christian faith, into which she was baptized, and from which she gained strength and comfort. Olga is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Nicholas A. Mihalik, and her daughter, Joanna, both of Toronto; by her son Nicholas J. Mihalik, his wife, Mary, two grand-daughters, Christina and Eva, all of Binghamton, New York, and by a brother, Stephen (wife, Lois), Kiselica of Pittsburgh, PA. Olga was a loving wife and mother, devoted to her family, and also to her church. She was a member of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church, and previously a member of Holy Transfiguration Russian Orthodox Church, both in Steubenville.Olga's life in the Orthodox faith found her active in many capacities; she, along with her husband, were honored as kumovi of their parish; for many years she was a parish secretary, she served as a Sunday school teacher, and as a member of the Protection of the Virgin Mary Sisterhood, she held several different offices. Perhaps dearest to her heart was Olga's singing in the church choir, both in the loft on Sunday, and in the congregation on holy days. Olga was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be sadly missed by her family and friends, all of whom are grateful for having shared the presence of such a loving, warm, supportive soul in their lives. Visitation for Olga will be held on Friday, Sept. 7 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH, where a Pomen (Memorial) service will be held Friday evening at 8:30pm.Funeral services for Olga will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 10am at the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church in Steubenville, OH with the Rev.
