Obituary

Paul R. Briceland, 97, of Toronto, OH, passed away Saturday March 31, 2012. Paul was born January 23, 1915 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Michael Leonard and Bessie Stroud Briceland. Paul retired from Weirton Steel Division of National Steel Corp. in 1967, where he worked as a Turn Foreman in the Tandem Mill. After his retirement, Paul worked as a Supervisor of Safety Training for the Industrial Commission of Ohio Division of Safety and Hygiene until he retired on Jan. 25, 1980. Paul was a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto and the Knights of Columbus # 2187. He was a 1933 graduate of Catholic Central High School. Paul also served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. In addition to his parents Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (Hughes) Briceland who passed away in 1990; an infant son David who passed away in 1947; his daughter Catherine Sylvia Garrett who passed away in 2011; his sister Mary Frances Dunlap and his brother George Briceland.Surviving are his son Michael (Elaine) Briceland of Weirton, WV, and his daughter Barbara A. Coleman of Cincinnati, OH; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.Family and friends are invited to attend Paul's Funeral Liturgy with Mass on Wednesday morning at 10am at St. Francis Catholic Church located on Findley St. in Toronto. Father Thomas Vennetti will Celebrate Paul's Mass and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery. Paul's arrangements are in the care of J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto.Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by the Toronto American Legion Post # 86.
