Paula Ann Vanihel, 59, of Toronto, OH, passed away Saturday morning, April 2, 2022, in the West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, from injuries sustained in a house fire.
Paula was born April 27, 1962, in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late Frank J. Vanihel, Jr. and Margaret C. (Stock) Vanihel.
She was currently employed at the Weirton Wal-Mart where she was a stocker. Paula started working at the age of 16 at the Elbys Big Boy Restaurant. After her graduation from high school, she received an associates degree and went to work in banking. She was a teller with Uni-Bank in Toronto which later became Sky Bank and most recently Huntington Bank.
Paula was a life-long member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Toronto, the Toronto Fraternal Order of Eagles, and she was a life-time member of the former Toronto VFW. She loved to bowl and was in the local Womens Bowling League. She was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Paula also loved the Toronto Red Knights, NASCAR, music, dancing, and playing bingo.
In addition to her parents, Paula was preceded in death by brother Frank J. Vanihel, III; brothers-in-law, Thomas Burkey, Eugene Michael Lucas, Robert A. Cline, and Lester Tharp; nephew, Todd Allen Cline.
Paula leaves behind her 6 sisters, Linda Kay Burkey of Toronto, Mary M. (Steve) Reynolds of Mansfield, OH, Frances A. Lucas, Janet M. Tharp, Rosemary (Andy) Renforth, and Tina (Kent) McGrath all of Toronto; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday, April 5 from 3 pm to 7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. A private funeral service will be held Wednesday. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will officiate, and a private burial will follow in the Toronto Union Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church 1225 N. River Ave. Toronto, OH or the Toronto Fire Dept. 602 S. Fourth St. Toronto, OH 43964.
