Phyllis J. Zende, 87, of Wintersville, OH, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022, in the Carriage Inn of Steubenville, OH.

Phyllis was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Weirton, WV, daughter of the late Creed Mason Summers and Madeline Sarah (Hill) Summers.

She previously had worked for the Weirton Steel Corp. and Foodland in Wintersville.

Grandma Phyllis had a soft heart and she cared for her family and helped any of them with their needs. She enjoyed spending time with family and cooking, especially cooking soup for her grandson Seth. She enjoyed studying her Bible and playing with her three dogs, Lee & MyMy (deceased), and Simon. Phyllis also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play and yelling at them thru her TV.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jo Muhart and Olive Louella Kopars, and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Demos.

Phyllis leaves behind her two sons, Kirk Demos and Timothy (Rosalie) Demos, both of Wintersville; grandchildren, Seth Demos of Wintersville, Chelsie (Jeremiah) Bukovac of Philippi, WV, Carrie Mitchell of Martins Ferry, OH, Gus Demos of Wheeling, WV, and Mary Hall of Bethany, WV; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Gracie Bukovac, Mia, Peyton, and Kylie Hall, Andrea, Jeremiah, and Andrew Booker; great-great-grandchildren, Leovonnie and Leilani Booker, Mika and Cassius Vicent.

There will be no public services for Phyllis. Her arrangements are private and in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH.
